• India selected as the next host of WTTC Global Summit in 2027

  The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) will bring its Global Summit to New Delhi in 2027, selecting India from 21 candidate destinations. The event is expected to bring together global tourism leaders, investors and policymakers to explore partnerships, strengthen public-private collaboration and examine opportunities to expand India's international visitor economy.

• Govt asks Adani Airports to defer partial shifting of Mumbai airport's international operations

  The civil aviation ministry has instructed Adani Airport Holdings Ltd to postpone the relocation of international flights to the Navi Mumbai airport. Airlines have voiced their discontent with the proposed 33 percent reduction in international flights. A meeting was conducted to explore the transition plans while addressing concerns from airlines about operational impacts.

• IndiGo hikes fuel charges for all flights as ATF prices surge

  IndiGo will revise fuel charges on domestic and international routes for new bookings made from October 6, citing a sustained rise in Aviation Turbine Fuel prices. Domestic charges will range from INR 375 to INR 1,300 based on distance, while international fuel charges will range from INR 1,000 to INR 10,000 depending on the destination.

• Ministry of Tourism, ONDC launch National Digital Tourism Stack

  The Ministry of Tourism and ONDC have launched the National Digital Tourism Stack to create open digital infrastructure connecting tourism providers, destinations and travellers across multiple platforms. Designed as AI-first infrastructure, the initiative aims to improve discovery, trust and digital access for smaller tourism businesses, with more than 1,000 experiences already transacting on the ONDC Network.

• Global hotel rates set to rise in 2027 amid resilient demand and inflation: Amex GBT

  Global hotel rates are expected to rise in 2027, with corporate travel demand and inflation supporting higher prices across the Americas and Europe, according to Amex GBT’s Hotel Monitor 2027. India is also expected to see continued rate growth, although improved hotel supply could moderate increases, with Bengaluru forecast to record a 5-5.5 per cent rise.

  Speaking at the India Tourism Growth, Investment and Global Opportunities session at the ICC Global Business Summit 2026 in New Delhi on Saturday, Kumar said the next phase of India's tourism growth would depend on the country's ability to offer experiences that can compete with international destinations while taking pressure off established tourism hotspots. The session was part of the two-day ICC Global Business Summit being held on September 18-19.
